Nick Waterhouse

Berlin, 06.11.202.

My second Post is about Nick Waterhouse’s concert at Huxley’s Neue Welt in Berlin. And… ta-da:  I had the honor to get my first official photographer pass for this concert. 🙂

I’ve been following Nick for a long time, since the first time I saw him in Basel in 2012. The last time I saw him live was at the Columbia Theater in Berlin in 2019. This time the room was a bit bigger than I expected. My concept of photography is to photograph what I see from the audience with a fixed lens, to capture exactly what I see as a spectator. Unfortunately the lens I was carrying that day didn’t work so well at that distance. I still got some decent shots. But I usually feel more comfortable in smaller venues, with smaller stages and less distance between audience and stage.

The concert was really great. Nick presented his fantastic new album „The Fooler“ (scroll down to listen!) with Will Worden as opening act and guitarist. At some point in the concert everyone in the front rows started dancing. I love dancing and it’s great to be surrounded by people who at that moment are feeling and enjoying themselves just like you.

Normally at concerts I usually buy an LP to support the artist directly. In many occasions, like at Nick’s concerts, you also have the opportunity to have the band sign it. I really appreciate that after an intensive concert Nick is always ready to sign and have some small talk with the attendees.

And now for the pictures – here’s how I saw the concert:

Some of my favorite songs on this album are: Hide and Seek, Plan for Leaving and (No) Commitment. But the album has to be seen as a unit, a story with exposition, rising action, climax, falling action and resolution. Listen for yourself!:
